Bridget P. Ross, J.D.

Bridget Ross, JD is the Director of Operations for Research by Design. Her more than 20 year legal career began prior to her graduation with academic recognition from John Marshall School of Law. Her experience includes work with city and county agencies, including the the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education and a private law firm before opening her own law office. Ms. Ross’ practice focused on civil rights, and employment litigation.

In 1997, she founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Renal Care, Inc., a provider of dialysis services, where she was responsible for financial and insurance analyses, cost reporting, and operational, technical and clinical policies and procedures. Following the sale of the corporation in 2007, Ms. Ross assumed her partnership and management position at Research by Design. Her duties include regulatory compliance, financial analyses, policies and procedures, and research operational management.

Ms. Ross is the Vice President of Literacy Chicago, Chicago’s oldest literacy organization and is active in several community outreach programs.

 

Paul W. Crawford, M.D., F.A.S.N.

Paul W. Crawford, M.D., F.A.S.N., is Principal Investigator of Research by Design. He is an internationally recognized nephrologist with more than 35 years of medical practice and board certifications in both internal medicine and nephrology. Dr. Crawford has 20 years of research experience with the American Heart Association, pharmaceutical companies, and the National Institutes of Health. He serves as medical director of two dialysis centers as well as maintaining his private patient practice with Associates in Nephrology.

Since 1978, Dr. Crawford has conducted research, published and lectured extensively on renal function conditions and treatments associated with kidney disease, renal failure, hemodialysis, hypertension screening and control programs among other topics. He serves on numerous boards, provides community service, and has been recognized through the years for his efforts with a variety of awards including America’s Top Physician Award in 2003 through 2007 inclusive and the American Heart Association’s Coeur d’Or Award.

 

Satya P. Ahuja, MD, FACP, FASN

Satya P. Ahuja, MD, FACP, FASN is an investigator for Research by Design and has a patient practice with Associates in Nephrology. He graduated from the Government Medical School, Nagpur (MS), interned at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada and continued his training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, with a residency in internal medicine and two fellowships in nephrology. Dr. Ahuja is well recognized for his clinical practice over the past 35 years, receiving numerous awards including the Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award from the AMA in 2008; he has board certifications in nephrology and internal medicine. His clinical research includes iron deficiency anemia in CDK patients, hemodialysis, hyperphosphatemia, vitamin D insufficiency and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Ahuja serves as medical director for South Shore Hospital in Chicago and for the Marquette Park Fresenius Medical Care clinic. He also serves on numerous hospital boards and committees and has appointments with the Committee on Drugs and Therapeutics and the Indian Tribune Foundation. He is also the former president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

 

April Kennedy, MD

April Kennedy, MD is an investigator with Research by Design. She maintains a patient practice with Associates in Nephrology and has a medical directorship with Fresenius Medical Care. Dr. Kennedy is a 2002 graduate of the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago and continued her training at the University of Illinois Medical Center where she served as Chief Medical Resident and completed a fellowship in nephrology. She is board certified in nephrology and internal medical. Dr. Kennedy’s clinical research experience includes renal insufficiency, CKD, diabetes and anemia. She is active in several community outreach programs.
