Procedures and Protocols

Research by Design respects the importance of your time. We are a central IRB site; our regulatory staff is prompt in both document collection and submissions. Our in-house counsel quickly turns around contracts and budgets. We are focused upon our quality control procedures, and our equipment maintenance ensures our data is consistent and reliable. In addition, our site staff have extensive research experience and include full-time nurse study coordinators, research assistants, pre-screeners and recruiters.

Our state-of-the-art facility features our dedicated phase 1 research unit that can accommodate up to 28 trial participants simultaneously for long PK studies of more than 720 hours. We are equipped with pharmacy grade refrigerators, -80° freezers, refrigerated centrifuges, remote temperature monitors, and secure storage for investigational products and devices. Our foremost concern is the safety of our study participants, while maintaining our dedication to providing reliable, readily usable data to our sponsors.

Study Participants

We are well known among sponsors and CROs for quickly meeting our enrollment goal with our diverse pool of potential participants. Our goal always is to quickly meet our enrollment goal and have achieved success in these efforts. The relationship between our investigators and their patients has been the key to accomplishing recruitment goals.

Trial Experience

Our physician investigators are certified medical professionals with specialization in nephrology, urology, and internal medicine. April R. Kennedy, MD, FASN, our nephrology Principal Investigator, leads an experienced team of Sub-Investigators and was personally trained by Principal Investigator Emeritus, Paul W. Crawford, MD, FASN, who assumed an advisory role with the site in 2023. James A. Sylora, MD, our urology Principal Investigator, is the founder of the practice group Associated Urological Specialists, LLC.
